Playwrights!

Inline with our mission to workshop and develop new works, New Canon Theatre Co. is seeking full-length and one-act plays from established and emerging playwrights for the New Canon Theatre Lab. All submissions will be thoroughly considered; however, we are HIGHLY interested in writers from the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities, as well as playwrights local to the greater Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Francisco Bay Areas. Casts may not exceed six actors. To begin the consideration process, please submit a query letter (including your bio) and a one-page summary of your piece to Artistic Director J. Matthew Gordon at jgordon@newcanontheatre.org. Note: Please do not send the full script until requested, and please do not pitch multiple plays. Send us what you feel best suits what we are looking for. Selected plays will receive public staged readings workshopped by members of the New Canon artistic staff and acting company, with the potential to be fully staged in upcoming seasons.
